Circumcision

**Edited: I removed the graphic pic because it was hurting people, but if are prepared to face reality click here

Elective surgery for a newborn?

Does female circumcision sound brutal and cruel to you? The only difference from it and male circumcision is that the male version is "acceptable" in the American culture. Its the same thing...cruel, brutal and unnecessary.

Find out more

**Edited again to add...this post has a life of its own. If you want to check out the blog that inspired some of the distasteful ecomments...be my guest. I commented on her 11/13 post. The most important thing is that we have a discussion here on circumcision! Rock on

You did nothing wrong with trying to educate some poor ignorant mama. Don't stop trying to educate other mamas either, if you save even 1 poor defenseless little baby from having it's nerve ending and glands ripped off it's all worth it!

I completely agre with yuo. Unfortunately I had to find out the hard way. My 1st son was circ'd. It was absolutely the most horrible thing. Dont worry about offending people with a picture. If they cant bear to see the truth in it they are cowards who send their helpless newborns off out of sight and earshot. I've heard moms say "Its too hard for me to watch" Well if its too hard for you to watch it's too hard for him to actually ENDURE! Good for you! Keep up the good work.

what you did was rude and arrogant and none of your business. your opinions are yours and don't need to be pushed on others. you also should take note that are just as many arguments FOR circumcision as there are against it.

of course you have the right to say what you will, but you should probably keep it to yourself rather than attacking innocent people who you don't even kno.

RIC should be banned, someday..........

rad ponytail...you are obviously uneducated about the ethical and physical ramifications on circumcisions. I find it beyond sad that you call her "arrogant". Arrogance is cutting off a part of another persons body without consent because YOU think it looks better. Circ is rape. Its a violation on someone else sexuality because its how YOU think its supposed to be. If we trimmed labias and clitoral hoods, which actually have far more medical justification than male foreskins, you would be screaming at what a crime this is. Hypocrites.

How is this an attack? Here is my comment:

"Love your blog. And yes the rooms look great!

Im sad to hear you are going to circumcise. Have you looked into it?

Good luck with labor! Very exciting! Congrats mama"

To me...its an offer to have dialogue.

You're awesome. If people are too squicked out by that photo then maybe they need to think twice about cutting their baby for no reason.

i have responded to you on my blog. i posted your comment not to have you bashed but simply to start a discussion. this is something i commonly do, i post things to start a discussion and see what others thing. i was opening it up for people to tell me the agree with you or disagree. i wasn't trying to be rude or have you ganged up on, simply trying to spark a conversation.

your comment was very appropriate. RIC is never appropriate.

You rock momma. I love how everyone else just keeps up with the misguided "it's cleaner" cr*p. Keep fighting the good fight and spreading facts. Someday no woman will even consider skinning her son's penis. Every other developed country has figured it out and stopped this horror...I have faith we will someday, too!

Well said. It's just pure madness to cut a piece off a newborn boys genitals. It baffles the mind that people can't see this. I don't blame my mother's generation or even friends who had kids before the internet. But with all the info out there... and yet people still do it? It makes me so sad. We're supposed to protect our young, not cut parts off their bodies we don't like.

Good for you letting her know that hurting her precious newborn is wrong!

Our son is intact as Nature made him.
