Chiropractic Care for Children

Grant has been seeing our wonderful Chiropractor since he was 4 months old. I would have taken him sooner if I had known the benefits! He really enjoys the gentle adjustment as you can see...

The birthing process...vaginal and even cesareans can leave babies subluxated - where the bones of the spine are misaligned which decreases proper nerve and joint function. If there was any pulling of the baby's head or the use of forceps, Idefinitely recommend taking the babe in for a gentle adjustment by a qualified pediatric chiropractor. It is common at the practice we visit, for moms to bring in their newborn babies for a spinal alignment check. Especially for those babies who cry continually.

Grant is the poster child for bumps and bruises from the risks associated with running and jumping (and tripping and falling). When the spine is jarred it can cause misalignment. So anytime Grant gets injured (like his recent cranial hematoma) we take him in. We also take him on a regular, monthly basis, to just check his overall health. We originally took him for the breathing challenges & reflux. Although it did not heal him, it did lessen the symptoms and I do believe it helps him feel better overall. They always say (the chiropractors), that misalignment causes dis ease...and alignment thus creates ease and health.

We are so blessed that not only is Grant's chiropractor amazingly talented and experienced with children, but they also DO NOT CHARGE for children! How beautiful is that? They want children to be served and they know that most parents will not or cannot spend the cash to take them. Thank you Dr Chris and Dr Colleen!

Im doing the friday dance im doing the friday dance....wooo hooo...and its even almost over! i had a fun day today..even though i spent too much money. how come it works like that?

left work at 9:45am (went in just to check email) for the chiropractor.........AHHHHHHHHHHHH...omg seriously...that felt sooo good. i was LONG overdue for some of that wacky adjustment stuff they do...and im telling you...i felt YEARS younger upon leaving that fine establishment. she asked me was was going on with my back..and i said it was "crunched" from cosleeping and grant nursing all night last night. she fixed it..said i was due for a tune up! love that place. have i mentioned they treat children for FREE???? thats another post i wanna do bc its beautiful thing..as is good chiro work on children...especially those with ailments.

then i bounced over to the girlie midwife for one of our most favorite things in the world..a pap! however...im almost ashamed to admit this...but i had fun! that was a first for sure. she greeted me with a hug and said how happy she was to see me and how it felt like forever even though it was only 2 years..and we just chatted about grant and the birth (which i LOVE to talk about as anyone who knows me can testify) and before i knew it it was over and she hugged me again. i didnt even feel anything painful. now that either means i am sooooo stretched out from birth that splunkers could have an outing down there without me knowing....or i really just was completely distracted the whole time. im praying its the latter! either way...it was the best pap i ever had period.

oh and btw..she said it sounded like i did just have a very early miscarriage this past cycle...made even more evident if this next cycle is text book (or normal for me etc). she also laughed about my husband being dead set about not having any more children...but not using any protection heheheh. i love him.

then i treated myself to a very nice lunch at a kinda fancy italian restaurant...being one of those lonely cat ladies with a good book..dining solo... i tipped very well and decided to run out to do some shopping..which is so unlike me. but i needed to seize the moment...bc if grant or my DH is with me...im tense and rushed ...even if they are not rushing me...i just have this sense of urgency....as in...lets get out of here before an entire diplay is broken on the floor kinda urgency. so i went and i conquered and i was inspired..and it was cool. im so excited about my little present crafty kinda thing im putting together. if all goes well im going to post them in my etsy store! fingers crossed. for now i will keep the project to myself in case things go terribly wrong and there is an explosion and people get hurt. but soon...i will unveil the....hint here....substance....hehe. and no im not a drug dealer (thats plan b hehe)

so i slide on into work around 2PM...it was sweet!

the weather here is supposed to be god aweful all weekend with ice and snow and frigid temps...time to cozy up and love oneanother.

Ruptured Ear Drum

man today has been BUSY and hectic but fun at the same time.

Grant has a perforated ear drum (bummer). What i had chalked up to teething anger on saturday and sunday ended up being intense pressure building up in his head and the BAHM....bursting. My first clue was the "honey" seeping from his right ear. Other than that...he never tugged or rubbed on his ear at all. He had pointed inside his mouth..while cursing and sighing in exhaustion. Guess the pain was in his head -inside there.

So Monday I took him to the local ol dr stevens (a gem!) who declared what i knew to be true. He strongly encouraged us to use the antibiotics bc there is a serious infection less than an inch from his brain. We upped probiotic to double strength during the treatment. Other than that...we are using cotton balls during showers to reduce entry and keeping him comfortable. The little guy is such a trooper though...has a high pain threshold.

We also took him to the chiropractor monday and tuesday. It helps so much to drain the ears and his jaw was even out a bit. We love love love our chiropractors. They are such good souls..that they treat children for free so they dont miss out! Grant has truly benefited from their goodness. I counted up and he has been there 18 times since January! He really digs getting adjusted...lays there with great anticipation..and usually hugs them afterwards. Its something else.

hello...anyone out there?

so i really just wonder if anyone but sarah and amy read this thing. sooooooooo if you woudl please indulge me....leave a comment...even just your name...so i know you are reading this. i may need to send out another recruitment blast to lure innocent folks to this site. i just think its nice...especially since we live out here in the boonies....to have grant updates so he isnt just a figment of your imagination...and more like a real growing baby.

dave and i are making progress!!!! he wrote down the first phase of his requests! and you know it is already helping. i told him how excited i was to be truly communicating without all the drama of emotion and tone...and we are planning to continue a written dialogue! yae.

have you heard of flat daddies? dads who over seas in iraq....can have their life size images sent to their kids...and family...and that way the babes still recognize daddy on his return. at first i thought it was strange...strange but cool...and now im totally into it. infact...made me think of my own brand of flat grandmas! why not? have their life size faces in the house so he will quickly recognize them during a brief visit. he already knows my moms voice from the speaker phone..which has helped. this could really work.

grant and i are going to the chiropractor today...ive been putting it off for over a month now..the trip is just a lot of work..at least im not doing it BEFORE work..instead im taking off work to go..much better! so hopefully he can work out our kinks..man i need some help. and grants allergies are on overdrive right now...it would be nice for him to get some relief too. fingers crossed.

btw....grant is officially into everything! he is just all over the place...grabbing, reaching, crawling, scooching, rolling, pulling up, standing, walking....ahhhhhhhhhh....so now the challenge has increased and how has it! he also fights for his right to party...by screaming and crying for a bit. limits are being set...and i realize that i need to stay consistent, calm and loving through it all..which has been going well so far. such as...grant...sit in the tub...no standing...sorry....grant....may i have that? thank you...........grant....i cant continue to walk you around the house bc my back is going to give out...sorry. etc etc. he is something else! wow.
